Closed Cooling Tower
A closed cooling tower is a high-efficiency cooling equipment that integrates a cooling tower and a shell and tube water cooler.
Working principle:Heat transfer is enhanced by evaporation of the water film outside the tube. The process water flows through the closed coil tube bundle, and the heat is transferred to the outside air through the heat transfer of the partition wall and the evaporation of the spray water outside the tube, thereby reducing the process water temperature, while avoiding direct contact with the atmosphere, reducing pollution and scaling.
Closed cooling towers are widely used in industrial cooling, especially in places where water resources are limited or water quality requirements are high. It isolates the working fluid from the external environment through a closed heat exchanger (such as a coil), effectively reducing water evaporation, pollution and scaling. Compared with open cooling towers, closed cooling towers provide more stable cooling effects and are more water-saving and environmentally friendly.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages
- Good water-saving effect: Since the working liquid circulates in a closed pipe, the closed cooling tower greatly reduces the evaporation of water and the need for replenishing water.
- Avoid water pollution: The closed system of the closed cooling tower avoids direct contact between the coolant and the external environment, reduces the impact of external pollutants on the coolant, and reduces the risk of scaling.
- Low maintenance cost: The closed design reduces the occurrence of common problems such as scaling, algae and corrosion, thereby reducing maintenance frequency and repair costs.
- Flexible installation: The closed cooling tower can be flexibly designed as a vertical or horizontal structure according to site requirements, occupies less space, and is suitable for various occasions.
Disadvantages
- Higher initial investment cost: The closed structure and complex spray system of closed cooling towers make them more expensive to manufacture, so the initial purchase cost is higher than that of open cooling towers.
- Relatively low cooling efficiency: Compared with open cooling towers, closed cooling towers have slightly lower heat exchange efficiency, especially in dry mode, where the cooling effect is limited by the ambient temperature.
- High maintenance requirements: Although the closed system reduces water pollution problems, it is still necessary to regularly check the operation of the heat exchanger and spray system to ensure that the equipment works properly for a long time.
